2. Scope
This policy applies to personal information under ADHDguide.ca's control. It does not govern third-party websites or services that publish their own privacy policies.
Our founding products and marketing are directed to adults. They are not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact information, such as name and email address.
- Account and transaction information, such as purchase date, product, amount, currency, order status, and access history.
- Billing-related information supplied to the payment process; full payment-card details are normally handled by the payment provider rather than ADHDguide.ca.
- Communications you send to us, including support, refund, privacy, accessibility, and business inquiries.
- Marketing preferences, consent records, email opens, link clicks, and unsubscribe status.
- Technical information, such as IP address, browser or device type, pages viewed, referring page, approximate location, and cookie or analytics identifiers.
- Information you voluntarily submit through forms, surveys, or feedback requests.
The current Starter Kit is designed for local completion. We do not ask customers to upload completed worksheets or detailed mental-health histories to use the product.
4. Why we use information
- Provide requested guides, products, accounts, and downloads.
- Process and document purchases, refunds, and customer support.
- Send service messages related to a request or purchase.
- Send educational or commercial email where we have an appropriate basis and consent.
- Maintain consent, unsubscribe, transaction, and compliance records.
- Secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve our website and products.
- Understand aggregate use and conversion.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Meet accounting, tax, legal, and regulatory obligations.
- Respond to access, correction, privacy, and complaint requests.
We do not use customer information to diagnose, assess, or make clinical decisions about individuals.
5. Consent and choices
We seek consent appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the purpose for which it is collected. You may withdraw consent for optional marketing at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us.
Withdrawing consent does not affect uses already permitted by law and may limit our ability to provide a requested service where the information is necessary for that service.
6. Email
We may send service emails needed to deliver a requested resource, purchase, receipt, account notice, or support response, and educational or promotional emails where consent or another lawful basis permits.
Marketing emails identify the sender and include an unsubscribe mechanism. We maintain unsubscribe requests and do not charge a fee to opt out.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our site and service providers may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions, login, preferences, security, measurement, and analytics.
We currently use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website use and conversion. Analytics may collect device, browser, interaction, IP-derived, and cookie-related information. Browser settings and available consent controls may allow you to limit non-essential cookies, although some site functions may be affected.
We do not currently use completed mental-health worksheets for advertising profiles.
8. Service providers and disclosures
We may transfer personal information to service providers that perform functions for us, including Kajabi for website hosting, forms, accounts, digital-product delivery, checkout functions, and email; the payment provider shown at checkout; Google Workspace for business email and documents; Google Analytics for website measurement; and domain, security, accounting, professional-advice, and technical-support providers as reasonably required.
We limit information to what is reasonably necessary for the service. We may also disclose information when required or authorized by law, to investigate fraud or security incidents, to establish or defend legal claims, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate protections.
We do not sell personal information for money.
9. Processing outside Canada
Some service providers may process or store information outside British Columbia or Canada, including in the United States. Information in another jurisdiction may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or government authorities under that jurisdiction's laws.
ADHDguide.ca remains responsible for personal information under its control and uses contractual or other reasonable measures to protect information handled by service providers.
10. Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy and for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, and business requirements.
When information is no longer reasonably required, we destroy it, anonymize it, or remove identifying links where practical. Unsubscribe records may be retained to respect the opt-out.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers, government identification, or detailed medical records by ordinary email.
12. Access, correction, and privacy requests
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information under our control, ask us to correct inaccurate information, withdraw optional consent, or raise a privacy concern.
Contact the Privacy Lead at admin@adhdguide.ca. We may need to verify identity and may withhold information where the law permits or requires.
13. Complaints
Send privacy complaints to admin@adhdguide.ca with “Privacy Complaint” in the subject line. We will review the concern and explain our response. If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the privacy regulator that has jurisdiction, including the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
14. Changes
We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. We will post the updated date and provide additional notice where a material change requires it.
